This book is about three children from different class backgrounds, who probably would never meet under normal circumstances but come together on the train leading north to the Yorkshire Dales.

The book includes historical information which is chronologically correct woven into the story. The war lasts for five and a half years.

Her first book, Christa, is about an eight year old girl whose father is an army officer in the Third Reich but is killed in front of her by the SS because he didn’t agree with Hitler’s policies on exposing and exterminating Jews in Berlin. This is the story of a non-Jew who suffers as much as a Jew, and how she survived.
